Andres Montez 

Musician. Educator. Drummer. 

Andres Montez, Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas is a Musician and Educator in the Central Texas Region. Andres has been playing drums & percussion for 19 years, he specializes in Jazz drum set, obtaining a Bachelors Degree in Music Performance from St. Mary's University, studying under Joseph Caploe.

While in undergraduate studies at the Alamo Colleges, Andres Montez was the 2021 winner/honoree for the A-JAM(Alamo Jazz All-Star Mentorship) being recognized as the best jazz student in the Alamo Colleges District . 

​

Since 2021 Andres Montez has lead his own groups and has been a freelance musician in the central Texas region. His own groups include Andres Montez & The Sapphire Jazz Combo, Andres Montez 7-tet , Andres Montez Trio , Andres Montez Quartet , The After Hours Quintet, The Dulce Sueños Trio. As a freelance musician Andres has played with the likes of The Heritage Big Band, The Kings of Naw'lins Swing, The Dirty Rio Trio, Chris Guerrero Trio, Anthony Soriano Quartet, Dustin De La Garza, The Far Out Oasis , Gelina & The Diamondbacks, Jason Valdez Trio, Milan Moorman Trio, Ed Sherry Trio, Kevin Nabors Quartet, Lex Chabraja Trio, Chris Vu Trio, Craig Marshall's The Lucky Strikes, Daniel Miller & The Red Roses, Michael Martinez & The Cantina Ramblers, & The St. Mary's University Jazz Orchestra & Combo.

Currently Andres Montez is giving private drum lessons & playing shows around the central Texas region, while retaining 3 residencies at 2 local venues.
